Getting my teeth done is something I’ve always wanted to do, literally ever since I found it what veneers were. I had braces when I was younger so my teeth were fairly straight before but they weren’t perfect.. I wanted perfect even, straight teeth – basically a Hollywood smile! In this post I’m going to share my experience of getting cosmetic bonding with Sia Lord (@drsialord on Instagram) and how I found the whole procedure.
Firstly, I am SO happy with the results. I absolutely love the smile Sia has given me through the cosmetic bonding and my teeth are so straight, symmetrical and white. I feel a lot more confident and I’m so glad I had it done. The procedure only took around an hour and a half and was completely painless.

About Composite Bonding
Previously I’d looked into getting veneers but personally I don’t like the idea of having my teeth filed down.. maybe this is something I’d consider in the future but for now this isn’t for me. Composite bonds are an amazing alternative as you achieve the veneer look without damaging your actual teeth and a lot of people choose bonding to enhance their smile. The way it works is by using a white resin material and applying it to your teeth and then it’s cured with a UV light so it hardens. The desired shape and structure can then be made and afterwards they’re trimmed and shaped, then they are polished to create a natural shiny tooth surface.

The Consultation…
I visited Sia at a clinic in Battersea in London and I first had a consultation and 4 weeks later I had the actual procedure. We talked about the look I wanted to achieve and he told me the ins and outs of how he does it and answered some questions I had. I had a lot of questions to ask and I’ve also had lots of dm’s with questions so there’s a Q&A at the bottom of this page!
I wanted to see what they would look like after the procedure so Sia did a quick ‘try on’ set of bonds. This took around 10 mins and when I saw them I was so much more excited!! I immediately loved them and wanted them done even more than before (see pic below). After I’d seen them / taken some pictures Sia quickly took them off again with no damage. I literally couldn’t stop looking at the pics for the whole lead up to having them done properly I was so excited!

On The Day
On the day of the cosmetic bonding I went back to Battersea Smiles and was super excited. By this point I literally couldn’t wait to get them done but I was also feeling a little nervous – apparently this is normal! Sia is such a friendly guy and made me feel really relaxed so I felt fine as soon as we started. First he cleaned my teeth with a liquid and then started with the bonds and then at the end filed and polished them to create perfect looking teeth. At the beginning he put earphones in my ears so I was listening to music the whole time and blocked out any noise from the filing etc. This made the whole experience so much better and made me feel a lot more relaxed whilst I was having it done.

When I saw them once they were finished I was so happy with them! They were so white and straight and exactly what I’d wanted. They made my smile look totally different and I didn’t stop smiling for literally the whole day. You can’t eat for two hours afterwards and should avoid food and drinks that will stain the teeth/have colouring in them, buttt you can still drink alcohol (and that’s all that matters right?). Battersea is right next to Chelsea so we made a day of it both times…after the consultation we went to the Bluebird Chelsea and after my actual appointment we went to the Ivy Garden, both really cute places! Definitely a perk of the location.
