Budapest – Girls Trip

A few weeks ago me and two friends visited Budapest in Hungary and had the most amazing time. It’s a place I’d definitely recommend for a weekend away and there’s truly something for everyone; the nightlife, the ruin bars, parliament, thermal baths, Budapest castle and Margaret Island are just a few attractions to name the least. We went for 4 days from Thursday-Monday and this was an ideal amount of time for the holiday because we had enough time to do everything we wanted to, however you could definitely stay for longer in my opinion especially in the summer months.

Parliament

Parliament is the first thing we went and saw which is right on the Danube river facing Budapest castle and the parliament itself is incredible! It’s so nice to walk around the front of the building along the river and you just have to see it if you visit Budapest. It also light up at night and looks even more amazing, it literally reminded me of the Cinderlla’s castle at Disneyland!! Also a very Instagrammable location (which is of course very important).

The Apartment Jacuzzi!!

Our apartment was an Air B&B and it was incred! It had two bedrooms and a big living room area and open plan kitchen with a big flatscreen TV – I think you could actually sleep 6 people in the apartment altogether as there was a pull out bed in the living room too. The jacuzzi bath was our favourite thing and one thing we were looking for when we booked the trip – quite. lot of places have jacuzzis and hot tubs so if you filter on Air B&B there’s actually loads of nice places to stay!

Boat Party & Nightlife

This is parliament at night from the boat party we did on Friday. The picture doesn’t even do it justice and unbelievable to see in real life! The boat party is something I’d recommend if you’re visiting Buda with your mates and we had a great night – also easy to find on the river front of the Danube and you can book easily online.

The nightlife in Budapest is really good and is one of the reasons why its popular amongst stags and hen do’s. There’s loads of clubs to choose from and loads of cool bars and the ruin bars are especially good for being a bit more cultured when you’re on a night out- Simple Kert is one of the most famous ruin bars, known for having multiple themed rooms with different vibes in each one. We also did a ‘Sparty’, which is basically a thermal bath party and whilst its expensive compared to everything else (around £50 admission) its really good night and worth the money. I wish I’d got more pics there because the thermal baths were all lit up in purple, pink and blue and there was loads of inflatable statues – very Elrow style!!

Food!!

The food was good and we ate out every day. Food and drink are so cheap in Budapest- this pizza and drink literally cost us the equivalent of £6 each (about 2000 Hungarian Forint) in a restaurant near our apartment, which is insanely cheap especially because Budapest is a capital city. Amsterdam, London and Paris are all super expensive but Budapest on the other hand is an ideal weekend away to have a fun time and do loads of things without breaking the bank.

In terms of Hungary’s own cuisine, none of us actually tried any of it (so uncultured with our pizza, I know) but I’ve heard from other people that it’s decent!

View From The Budapest Eye

The Budapest Eye is a small wheel but actually gets you up quite high (terrifying) and is nice to see the whole of the city. I think in total it takes 15-20 mins and is only around £9! Worth doing if you’re nearby

Budapest Castle/Wine Festival

We spent a lot of time looking for events/planning things and booking tickets to things before our holiday which meant we had a huge schedule for when we went. We were lucky to have hot and sunny weather the whole time we were there with most days being 27 degrees! The wine festival at Budapest Castle was a nice way to end the trip and the view from the castle in the late afternoon/evening is beautiful. We were given a wine glass which you take to different stalls and buy glasses to try all the different types which was fun and there was some live music as well.

Overall Budapest was an amazing place to visit and somewhere I recommend to everyone. It’s cheap, the nightlife is good and theres loads of tourist attractions and places to see in the day and the weather is great in the summer! So if you’re stuck deciding where to go on your next city break or girls trip, Buda is your place.
