This summer I visited Amsterdam for the first time as I’ve always wanted to go and after hearing so many good things about it I absolutely loved it! I went with one of my friends Ollie and we had a really good time and Amsterdam left me with an amazing impression- not many places I want to go to again in a short amount of time just because I prefer to travel to different places and see new things, however Amsterdam is somewhere that I’d love to go to again soon!

The city itself is amazing- the design and layout of the houses and canals is really original and not something you see in other places. It’s just a really cool place to walk around and see the sights of. The weather was really good for us and we were lucky to have sunshine and high temperatures every day so we saw the city at its best!

We visited The Royal Palace of Amsterdam on our first day where we did an audio tour for like 9 euros. Inside the palace was really pretty and nice to walk around but I did find it hard to listen (not hugely my thing) but if you’re into that you can learn a lot about the Dutch monarchy.
Pretty Amsterdam streets…

The Heineken Experience is something I actually enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would. It’s the original Heineken brewery and the tour lasts about an hour and a half- throughout this you learn about how beer is made and produced, the history of the brand as well as the bottles as well as loads more fun stuff like simulators etc. You get three half pints included in the tour which is great if you drink beer (again, not actually my thing – not really selling this very well am I) but if you don’t, I’d still recommend the visit!

The sex museum is a popular place to visit in Amsterdam and whilst its short is fun to go to and is only around 5 euros. From what I’ve seen on Instagram, a lot of people come here when in Amsterdam!

The Van Gogh museum was something else worth going to and is in a good location right next to Vondelpark which is a nice place to chill in summer months. Other things I’d recommend are the boat/canal tour, the Amsterdam Ice Bar and the Red Light District is something definitely worth visiting because its an experience you won’t find anywhere else.
I’d love to visit Amsterdam again and if you haven’t been yet I’d definitely recommend it!!
